A little Sunday fishing!

I know it's Sunday and Father's Day, but Jody sleeps on Sunday so we try to fit in some afternoon school. It's too hot to do anything else anyway.

So this afternoon Elijah did a little fishing. Sight word fishing. He has a fishing pole with a magnet on the end of the string and I have a bunch of fish with sight words wrote on them and then a paper clip on em.

I set the timer for 15 minutes and told him to catch and read as many fish as he could before the timer went off.

Sometimes he got lucky and caught more than one fish at a time.

He caught and read 58 fish and he got all the words correct. I knew he would know these words so it was kind of a way to review.

There were still a bunch of fish left on the floor after the 15 minutes were up, so next time we play this, we will start with that group so he gets a review of them also.

This is such a wonderful idea!!! I will have to try this out with my kids, I know they will LOVE this. Was the fish a template you printed from online somewhere?

Hi Arpil

Those fish I have are so old. I used them when Dakota (now 17) was 6. I have no idea where I even got that pattern, but I did google fish pattern and then did image and got several patterns to come up.

I came across some little fish with subtraction facts on them. I'm going to print them on card stock and use them with the fishing pole .
Here's the link. (I only printed the last 4 pages because I didn't need to the fish bowls.)
