Easter Art

Elijah did this little art project today and I thought it turned out cute.

You take a simple coloring page and put it into a page protector.
Trace the image with a black sharpie.
Color the picture on the outside of the page protector with colored sharpie markers.
Take the coloring page out.
Cut tinfoil the same size as your paper.
Crumple the tinfoil, then place it in the page protector.

Never a dull moment!

Nothing like some excitement to get the ole heart pumping!

Elijah went outside to see his dog and came running back up to the door and said Jose had a snake and he was going to go kill it.

Dakota and I ran to the door. Elijah had a stick beating the snake and the snake was running around and jumping trying to get away. I yelled out to him to get a shovel.

Dakota and I then got to laughing because here we were standing inside the house watching the 9 year old out there killing a snake. I had no idea what kind of snake it was. How wrong is that? And I'm taking pictures! LOL

The snake was still alive when Elijah picked it up and I yelled out to him to put it back down and pick it up with the shovel.

I told him to take it back out there and kill it.

Thankfully it was a harmless snake!
Now we can get ready and take Elijah back to the doctor to get his 3rd shot for this case of strep throat he has.

Happy Easter!

We are having a quiet Easter weekend.
Jody is sleeping as he usually does on the weekends because he works nights. Elijah has been sick and still has puss pockets in his throat. Looks like he may go back to the doctor tomorrow.

Dakota went out and hid eggs for Elijah. I wasn't sure Elijah would even want to hunt eggs since he has strange ideas about what he is too old for and such, but he wanted to do it.

Yes, that is a new dog in the pictures, you can read about it below.

I had to get one Easter picture of Dakota.

Dogs Dogs Dogs

I don't know what happened to me, I had a moment where I lost my mind and couldn't think straight.

Dakota and I headed to town looking for Elijah an Easter surprise. I really hadn't planned on doing anything like that, but he has been sick and needed cheering up.

We stopped and ate some lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant and there was a sign
FREE PUPPIES.

Back when we got rid of Consuela and her puppies I did tell Elijah that we would get him an outside dog when Spring came. So I called and asked about the puppies.
A German Shepard puppy would make a good outside dog.

We have a new puppy. Her name is Cheyenne.

Elijah really was excited. I think in the first picture he was still in shock.
He loves this dog and she seems to like him too. She follows him everywhere.

Elijah has said "Thank you" I don't know how many times. He was really shocked we got him a dog.

Cheyenne is gonna be big!

While I'm posting about dogs, I might as well include our two other spoilt rats.
This is Pedro. He is so spoiled and thinks I'm his mama. He is jealous of the kids and other dogs.
We have had Pedro for 3 years now.
He is a tough dog and was attacked by werewolves... I mean coyotes, this past November.
(The werewolf part was added in especially for Juliann :)
He had big holes on each side of his front shoulders. The vet was able to fix him up and he healed up nicely.

Jose is Pedro's son. He was born this past November. You can just look at him and tell he is spoiled. This is Dakota's dog. I purposely did not have anything to do with this dog so he would bond with Dakota. It worked. He won't even come to me. He loves Dakota and cries for him.

Here are the three dogs walking around in the yard. So far they have all gotten along fine.
Pedro watches me though, if I say anything to the new dog Pedro has to come remind me that I'm his mama.

So now we have three dogs. What was I thinking?
I am glad Elijah has his own dog now. He loves her so much.

Welcome home to our crazy life!

We've been in Texas for the last few days. We had a great time, but we were really glad to get home. Let's just say we are not aggressive drivers!

I'll be posting pictures of our little trip over the next few days.

Elijah was miserable the whole trip, complaining his feet and legs hurt, begging for a wheel chair.
He never once said anything about his throat. Today I noticed he was really warm, for some reason I thought to look in his throat and his tonsils were covered in pus pockets. I called and got him an appointment and we took off to get him checked out.
Turns out he has strep AGAIN. He just had strep two weeks ago.

He usually has to go in for 3 days and get shots when he has strep. It's Easter weekend so they decided to give him two mega doses. He got one shot today and will go back for his second shot tomorrow.

Anyway Elijah's insurance doesn't pay for the rocephin shots through the doctor's office so we had to have a prescription to go get two vials to take back to the Doctor's office tomorrow to replace what they use on him. We went to a pharmacy that we don't usually use and when we got the prescription back the bag says that they can print your prescription label in many languages and then it list all the languages they will print in.
I really really want to get a prescription filled here and have them to print it in Chinese!

My Poker Kid!

I don't know where this weirdo kid came from.
Last night Dakota and I were in the school room and Elijah was in the living room watching TV. We could hear Elijah cheering and talking, he kept saying numbers... like "We need an 8!"
Dakota went to see what was going on.

Elijah was watching poker on TV. He does watch it from time to time.
One time going in the hospital as the nurse was helping him get comfortable and set up so she could start his IV she asked him what he wanted to watch on TV and he told her poker. LOL

So last night as I was going to skim through a book before bed so I went in the living room and sat for a few minutes while Elijah was watching poker.
He knows all the poker players names! He was telling me who was the best and usually wins and such information I had no idea he knew. I couldn't even look at my book, I was in such shock!

Elijah does like to play poker, but we haven't played in quiet a while. He wanted to get out the poker chips and I told him no, after all it was 1:30 AM. The next thing he said kept me awake most of the night. He said he just wanted to hold some poker chips while he watched poker on TV. Sounds like he has some serious issues to me. Should we get him started in some type of gambling therapy now?

American History Notebook

Here are some samples from Elijah's American History notebook.

He watched something on the history channel about money and had to have a copy of a dollar in his book. He spent days looking at money with a magnifying glass and microscope.
I have no idea about the stuff he says he found, because this was his project.
